Modular Home HVAC
The Heating and Air Conditioning system offered by modular home factories primarily offer electric base base board or hot water base board heat. Some factories will install duct work, but most prefer heating and cooling duct work to be installed on site by an HVAC specialist. The modular home factories will prep the home for site work heating and air conditioning, including chases to run lines and duct work to the attic spaces.
Modular Homes and HVAC
- Modular Home Fuel Tank or Lines - Usually if your modular home requires a fuel tank or fuel lines, the heating and air conditioning company should complete these installation.

- Modular Home Ductwork - The duct work in a modular home will be located in the foundation the first floor of the two story, ranch homes and cape code floor plans. Additional duct work will be required for the second floor of two story and Cape Cod modular homes. Usually this duct work will be run in the attic. The duct work in the attic should have an R-Value of 8 or better. In addition to the duct work, your modular home will have a chase for air conditioning mechanicals to be installed.

- Modular Home Ductwork Air Sealing - All of the duct work in a modular home should be air sealed. The three primary materials to seal duct work include: duct take (metal tape and not duck tape - the kind that quacks; mastic - a goop that is painted onto the seams in duct work and spray foam - either one or two part foam. In some situations, an HVAC installer will seal the modular homes registers and grills with a long lasting silicone caulk.

- Modular Home Duct Blaster Test - The duct blaster test is becoming a standard test for many areas to meet local codes. The duct blaster test how much air is leaking to the outside of the modular home through the home's duct work. Regardless if this is a requirement, it is recommended to have a duct blaster test completed on your home. Let your HVAC contractor that a duct blaster test will be completed after the duct work is installed. You will have tighter duct work in the modular homes heating and air conditioning system.

- Modular Home Furnaces and Boilers - Boilers and furnaces will need to be installed in the modular home after it has been set on the foundation of the home. In addition to the furnace, duct work will need to be installed in the prefab home as well. When if comes to boilers in modular homes, hot water baseboard heating elements are installed. The plumbing for the hot water baseboard heating elements will be stubbed into the foundation space and the plumbing for hot water baseboard heat on the second floor will have inter connect between the floors. The modular home will require a heating system. The most common heating systems for modular homes include furnaces - hot air systems and boulders - hot water baseboard and radiant floor heating systems.

- Modular Home Heat Pump - The heat pump will have an air handler and a condenser outside. The heating and air conditioning contractor will install the unit. With all heating and air conditioning systems it is wise to make sure the heating and air conditioning system is right sized by having calculations completed to size modular home heating and air conditioning systems.

- Modular Home Water Heater - Modular manufactures often include an electric water heater as a standard in their prefab home kits. If you require a natural gas heating system their could be an upgrade. The plumber will install the hot water heater and any necessary plumbing connections including TPR valve or temperature pressure release valve.

- Modular Home Heating Inspection - After the modular homes heating and air conditioning system is installed, your area may require an additional inspection of the heating and air conditioning system.
